Any one know if you need to change the spider over when converting a XO x2 to a sinlge ring? Planning on fitting a X0/MRP chain guide and was wondering about the clearance on the granny ring bosses.

No, there should be enough clearance... but even if not I'd suggest filing the granny ring bosses, as it will save you some cash.
The guide will come with loads of little washers to sort the spacing and get chain alignment correct.
Just make sure you take of the front derailleur and shifter.
I've got an MRP miniG2 SL and it was a doddle to fit... the instructions were pretty decent and it works real well too.
